Biography

Ali Landry was born on July 21, 1973 and grew up in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. She is of Cajun decent with both parents having Cajun roots in their background. Ali entered her first beauty pageant when she was seventeen years old. She won the 1990 pageant and was crowned Miss Louisiana Teen USA. Spurred by her success in 1990, six years later, she competed for the title of Miss Louisiana to become the one winner from her home state to go on to the 1996 Miss USA event. She won the title of Miss Louisiana USA and then went on to win Miss USA as well. Later that year she went on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant and finished in the top six of contestants.

Her beauty caught the eye of many photographers and she has modeled for numerous magazines as a result. She has also appeared in many TV spots as a guest and has appeared in several motion pictures. She also did a stint as the Doritos Spokeswoman and used her gymnastics talents to an advantage in the much talked about "Laundromat" commercials. Several of her commercials for Doritos aired during the 1998 and 1999 Super Bowl games.

In 2003 she landed a recurring role in the sitcom Eve which airs on UPN. She has participated in the show Fear Factor, and was runner up. She is a dedicated athlete and also participated in the Boston Marathon. On the personal front, she married her longtime boyfriend Mario López on April 24, 2004, but two weeks later she had the marriage annulled because of allegations that he cheated on her during his bachelor party. That's what happens when you cheat on Miss USA. She became engaged to film director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde on Memorial Day, 2005. They were married on April 8, 2006 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
