Sarah Silverman
Sarah Kate Silverman was born on December 2, 1970 in Bedford, New Hampshire. She is of Polish decent and she is Jewish. Her first acting role came when she was twelve in a stage production of Annie. In her teens she began performing stand-up comedy. She attended NYU for one year and left to pursue a career in comedy. Silverman is sometimes known as Big S or Sarah Big S Silverman. Her comedic style is unique for its subject matter which is weighty and her delivery which is beguilingly sweet. She addresses such topics as racism, rape, death and child abuse with a stereotypical Jewish persona. After three years of doing stand-up she landed a spot on Saturday Night Live in their 1993 to 1994 season. She wrote and was a featured player on the show. She was fired from SNL after one season via fax which she found to be a rather undignified way to tell someone they are being let go. She later went to HBO comedy show Mr. Show with Bob and David. She also appeared in several films including: Something About Mary, Say It Isn't So, School of Rock, The Way of the Gun, Overnight Delivery, Screwed, Heartbreakers and Rent. Her one-woman show was released as a feature film in 2005 and dubbed with the title, Silverman: Jesus Is Magic. She began dating Jimmy Kimmel former host of the Man Show and host of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The pair often use their relationship as material in their comedy. In the past she has also been romantically linked to Colin Quinn, Dave Attell, Sam Seder and Tom Gianas. Silverman has three sisters, one is a rabbi, one an actress and the last is a screenwriter. She is very forthcoming about her diagnosed clinical depression and her use of the prescription drug Zoloft. She also claims to smoke pot several times a week, while avoiding alcohol. Tidbits
