Kathleen Turner
Mary Kathleen Turner was born on June 19th, 1954 in Springfield, Missouri. Her parents were foreign diplomats and she moved around frequently living in Canada, Cuba, Venezuela and England, respectively, as a child and young adult. She has three siblings. She attended high school in London and also attended the Central School of Speech and Drama during this time. Her father died in 1972 while the family was still living abroad, after his death her mother moved the family back to the United States. By this time Kathleen had graduated from the American School in London but went on to Missouri State University for two years. She later transferred to the University of Maryland and earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 1977. She started her acting career in the soap opera Doctors in 1978, but was fired a year later for unknown reasons. She went on to acclaimed roles in many major movies her first notable role being in the sexually charged film, and high box-office grossing Body Heat in 1981. From this film she went on to roles in Romancing The Stone, Crimes of Passion, Prizzi's Honor, The Jewel of the Nile, Peggy Sue Got Married, Switching Channels, The Accidental Tourist, The War of the Roses, V.I. Warshawski, Serial Mom and The Virgin Suicides. She has also appeared on many television series in recent years including Friends, Law & Order and Nip/Tuck. In addition to her trademark husky voice, intelligence and earthy sensuality, she was also well known for performing her own stunts. For both Romancing the Stone and The Jewel of the Nile she provided most of the stunt action. She even broke her nose while filming V.I. Warshawski during a stunt. On the personal front she was involved with David Guc from 1977 to 1982. She later married Jay Weiss, a real-estate investor in 1984. The couple has one daughter together who was born in 1987.
