Biography

Mischa Anne Barton was born January 24, 1986 in London, England. Her father is British and her mother is Irish. The family moved to New York City when she was four years old. She has two sisters. She graduated from the Professional Children's School in 2004. She began her acting career in state plays in New York City. At nine years old she had a lead role in the play Slavs!, which was written by playwright Tony Kushner. She later took a lead role in Twelve Dreams by James Lapine.

Her film debut was in Lawn Dogs. She has also appeared in The Sixth Sense, Notting Hill and Lost and Delirious. She has also been a model for Calvin Klein, Aeropostale, BeBe, and Neutrogena. She is best known for her role as Marissa Cooper in the TV series The O.C.. That role ended in a fatal car accident for her character during the third season's finale, which aired on May 18, 2006. Though rumors had been swirling for weeks about the show's much hyped season finale death, Barton and NBC entertainment news program Access Hollywood infuriated fans of the show in revealing the character's death before the finale even aired
