Biography

Laura Prepon was born on March 7, 1980 in Watchung, New Jersey. Her father, Michael, died in 1994. Her mother, Marjorie, raised her five children after her husband passed away. Laura is the youngest of five children. She is half Irish/Catholic and half Russian/Jewish decent. She attended Watchung Hills Regional High School. She studied at the Total Theater Lab in New York City, where she appeared in numerous theatrical presentations.

At the age of 15, she caught the acting bug, decided to quit secondary school and enrolled herself in a specialized theater college. In addition to performing in numerous plays including: A Woman of Property and Ascension Day, she studied ballet and jazz dance. As she continued to improve her theater skills, she began driving into New York City to audition when ever possible. Deciding to take a chance, Prepon went to the That 70's Show audition, a FOX TV series that aired on August 23, 1998. The producers knew immediately that she was perfect for the part of Donna. Her audition tape was flown to Los Angeles and shortly after she was given the part. Although the show was initially slow to draw big audience numbers, it soon took off and garnered a large fan base.

By the shows third season, in 2000, it was ranked as one of the top rated TV shows and was one of the longest running TV sitcoms in FOX's history. The entire pivotal cast enjoyed new offers for work and a great deal of celebrity. Prepon landed small parts in movies such as Southlanders, The Pornographer: A Love Story, Karla, and Slackers.

That 70's Show aired their last episode on May 18th, 2006, however, Laura has many projects in the works, including several major motion pictures, so, fans will be able to see a lot more of her in the coming years.
