Ciara Harris
Ciara Princess Harris was born October 25, 1985 in Austin, Texas. She grew up on United States Army bases in Germany, New York, California, Arizona and Nevada. Her father was in the US Army. Her mother noticed her musical aspirations early on as Ciara had a habit of singing every song on the radio while she was still in day care. When she was eight years old the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. When she was fourteen she came home from school and announced to her mother that she wanted to be a singer. Shortly there after she joined a girl group called Hearsay and worked at developing her songwriting technique. She later left Hearsay to go solo and got a publishing deal; eventually finding what she calls her "musical soulmate," producer Jazze Pha. Her debut single entitled Goodies, reached the top of the US pop, R & B and Hip Hop charts. It also topped the UK charts, eventually reaching number one there and in Australia, Germany, Sweden and New Zealand. She continued to work with Jazze Pha and additionally Sean Garrett and Lil Jon to release her debut album also called Goodies. It was released on September 28, 2004 and entered Billboards top 200 at number 3. The album sold over three million copies in the USA. Goodies subsequently went 2x Platinum. Her second chart topping single 1, 2 Step featured Missy Elliott, went straight to number five and peaked at number two in early 2005. In December of 2005 she joined Gwen Stefani on the Harajuku Lovers Tour and later went on tour with Bow Wow and Chris Brown for the Holladay Jam. She won her first Grammy with Missy Elliott on February 8, 2006 for Best Short Form Music Video. On the personal front she started dating Bow Wow in 2004 and the couple recorded a song together entitled Like You in 2005. The pair parted company in 2006.
