Biography

Kristanna Sommer Loken was born on October 8th, 1979 in Ghent, New York. Her father is a novelist and a screenwriter and her mother is a former model. She grew up in upstate New York on an apple farm. She is of Norwegian decent on both her mother and father's sides of the family.

Kristanna was encouraged to begin modeling at an early age by her mother who, as stated, is a former model. She had her first assignments at age fifteen. Her ultimate goal, however, was to be an actress and soon she was auditioning for TV and film roles. One of her first acting jobs came on an episode of Star Trek Voyager in 1996. She also appeared on Unhappily Ever After, Mortal Kombat and Boy Meets World. Her movie debut was in the third Terminator film, Rise of the Machines; the first two films were made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton. The film was released in 2003 to much fanfare and advertising; however, it did not do well at the box-office and was considered not as good as the first two in the series; it barely broke even at the box-office. Never-the-less, Loken was noticed for her role and subsequently went on to BloodRayne in 2006 and In the Name of the King, also in 2006.

On the personal front, there has been much speculation and curiosity about her sexual orientation. In a Curve magazine interview she mentioned that she has had relationships with both men and women, but that she preferred those that she has had with other woman. She also started controversy when she kissed singer Pink at the World Music Awards.
