Biography

Jennifer Lynn Connelly was born on December 12th, 1970 in Catskill, New York State. Her father is a clothing manufacturer and her mother an antiques dealer. She is of Irish, Russian, Polish and Norwegian decent, her father is Catholic and her mother Jewish. Although she was born in Catskill, she was raised in Brooklyn Heights, New York and attended Saint Ann's School. It was suggested to her parents by a friend who was an Ad Exec that they allow Jennifer to audition at a modeling agency. Her parents took this advice and at age ten Jennifer began appearing in print ads and later TV commercials.

In 1984, when she was fourteen, she had a small part in Once Upon a Time in America which was a big box-office hit. The following year she appeared in Phenomena and Seven Minutes in Heaven. After she graduated from High School she attended Yale University for two years, but transferred to Stanford University later on.

She continued acting and appeared in a multitude of films before landing her first major, critically acclaimed role in A Beautiful Mind opposite Russell Crowe. Ron Howard directed the movie which later on won the Best Picture Academy Award in 2001 and a Best Director Award as well. Connelly won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in the true story of mathematician John Nash. She followed Beautiful Mind with roles in House of Sand and Fog, Dark Water, Little Children, and The Blood Diamond.

Connelly tends to keep out of the Hollywood mainstream and tabloids, preferring instead to live her life as privately as possible. On the personal front she was romantically involved with actor Bill Campbell, but the couple has since stopped seeing each other.
