Biography

Shannen Maria Doherty was born on April 12th, 1971 in Memphis, Tennessee. She is of Irish decent. She has one sibling, an older brother named Sean. Her father's job brought the family to Los Angels from Tennessee in 1978. When she was only ten she made her television debut on the series Father Murphy. She was noticed by Michael Landon, who saw her in the TV series and who subsequently asked her to take the role of Jenny Wilder on Little House on the Prairie. She acted in several episodes of the popular series. From Little House she went on to appear in two movies, Girls Just Want to Have Fun with Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt, and Heathers with Wynona Rider.

She gained worldwide recognition when she was cast in the Aaron Spelling hit Beverly Hills 90210, a role she played for four years. She was later cast in another popular Aaron Spelling TV show, Charmed, which she left in 2001. She has appeared in numerous other television shows and episodes including: Highway to Heaven, Our House, Magnum P.I., 21 Jump Street, Love Inc. and Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty. This last has Shannen helping viewers sort out their romantic trials by helping them to end bad relationships. As she has stated in several interviews, her own personal life would seem to provide enough experience with Breaking Up and fans are looking forward to getting her advise in this arena.

On the personal front she was married to Ashley Hamilton in 1993; the couple divorced in 1994. She later married Rick Saloman in January of 2002 and had the marriage annulled in 2003. Rick Saloman is best known for his Internet movie clip One Night In Paris starring Paris Hilton. According to some sources the pair were dating again, however, Shannen has denied these rumors.
