Sandra Bullock
Sandra Annette Bullock was born July 26, 1964 in Washington, D.C. Her father was a voice coach and her mother an opera singer. Bullock toured through Europe with her mother during her career as an opera singer, so she understood early the demands of a life of entertaining. She attended high school in Virginia and was a cheerleader. She briefly attended East Carolina University, but left to pursue an acting career. Bullock headed to New York City, where she tended bar and studied acting with Sanford Meisner. She got her first role in several stage productions. It was for one of these productions, the off-Broadway No Time Flat, that Bullock received a rave review for her portrayal of a Southern belle, the strength of which was enough to land her an agent. Television work followed her stage roles, with a small role in the 1989 The Six-Million-Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman and, after she moved to Los Angeles, the lead role in the short-lived TV version of Working Girl. Her movie debut was in the ill fated and badly reviewed, Love Potion No. 9 in 1992 and the following year she starred in the equally bad reviewed The Thing Called Love. However, in 1994 she won her breakthrough role which garnered her critical acclaim and a larger fan base, the role was as Annie in the film Speed, opposite Keanu Reeves. The movie became extremely popular and earned in the millions at the box-office. She followed with many big hit movies, including While You Were Sleeping in 1995, A Time to Kill in 1996, Hope Floats in 1998, Practical Magic, also in 1998, Miss Congeniality in 2000 and Crash in 2005. Crash was a critical and box-office hit and won the Oscar for best movie in 2005. She also, of course, suffered some flops and bad choices, but she has had more hit movies than not. On the personal front, Sandra started her own production company called Fortis Films which her sister runs for her. Bullock married motorcycle builder and Monster Garage host Jesse James on July 16, 2005. She had previously dated football player Troy Aikman, blues guitarist Guy Forsythe, musician Bob Schneider and her film co-stars, Ryan Gosling and Matthew McConaughey. She was also briefly engaged to actor Tate Donovan. Tidbits
